Von rund 300 im Bezirk Erfurt erhielten einige als „Rädelsführer“ langjährige Gefängnisstrafen. Der skurrilste Fall waren jene sieben Arbeiter, die als „Nicki-Männer“ den „Provokateuren“ ein Gesicht geben sollten. Die jungen Männer hatten in Stalinstadt, dem späteren Eisenhüttenstadt, gutes Geld verdient und sich auf der Rückfahrt in Westberlin eingekleidet. Am 19. Juni auf dem Anger verhaftet, wurden sie mit ihren gelben „Cowboy-Hemden, widerlichen Boogie-Woogie-Bindern, Ringelsöckchen und Stehkrause-Haarschnitten“, wie es in der Zeitung hieß, zum Inbegriff des westlich gesteuerten Aufwieglers (Foto: Zeitung "Das Volk"). Sie blieben zwei Wochen in Haft, einer der Männer sogar noch länger.
